چکیده

UNLABELLED PREMISE OF THE STUDY Nuclear microsatellite markers were developed for Lobelia inflata (Campanulaceae), an obligately self-fertilizing plant species, for use in the study of temporal fluctuation in allele frequency and of the genetic structure within and among populations. • METHODS AND RESULTS We developed 28 primer pairs for L. inflata, all of which amplify CT dinucleotide repeats. We evaluated amplification of these loci in 53 L. inflata individuals at three sites in eastern North America and found that 24 loci showed microsatellite polymorphism. We also found that 16 loci amplified successfully in L. cardinalis, and 11 amplified successfully in L. siphilitica. • CONCLUSIONS These primers will be useful for assessing allelic diversity within and among populations of L. inflata, and show potential for use in congeneric species.

Effect of Nitrogen and Magnesium Nutrition on Indian Tobacco (lobelia Inflata L.) Az Indián Dohányon (lobelia Inflata L.) Végzett Nitrogén És Magnézium Kísérleti Eredmények

Lobelia inflata L. a native NorthAmerican species is reported to possess pharmaceutically significant properties. Our experiments aimed at introducing this species to Hungary and implemented in randomized blocks with 4 repetitions, indicate the favourable effects of Mg-fertilization. Based on our results, it can be estimated that under the influence of Mg treatment an established population of ...

Development and characterization of 22 polymorphic microsatellite markers for the balloon flower Platycodon grandiflorum (Campanulaceae).

The balloon flower (Platycodon grandiflorum A. DC.) is a perennial flowering plant of the Campanulaceae family; it is the only member of the genus Platycodon. Information on the genetic diversity of balloon flower populations is of great importance for the conservation and germplasm utilization of this flowering plant. Twenty-two polymorphic microsatellite loci were developed and character...

Population Genetic Analysis of Lobelia rhynchopetalum Hemsl. (Campanulaceae) Using DNA Sequences from ITS and Eight Chloroplast DNA Regions

DNA sequence data from the internal transcribed spacer of nuclear ribosomal DNA and eight chloroplast DNA regions were used to investigate haplotypic variation and population genetic structure of the Afroalpine giant lobelia, Lobelia rhynchopetalum. The study was based on eight populations sampled from two mountain systems in Ethiopia. A total of 20 variable sites were obtained, which resulted ...

Assessment of genetic diversity in quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) genotypes using microsatellite markers

To evaluate the genetic diversity in quinoa genotypes for future studies, 60 imported quinoa genotypes were studied using microsatellite markers (SSR) at the faculty of agricultural sciences, University of Guilan, Rasht, Iran, in 2022. The results of the phenotypic evaluation of the quinoa genotypes showed that there was a relatively high diversity among them. Among the studied traits, seed yie...

Sea surface currents and geographic isolation shape the genetic population structure of a coral reef fish in the Indian Ocean

In this contribution, we determine the genetic population structure in the Skunk Clownfish (Amphiprion akallopsisos) across the Indian Ocean, and on a smaller geographic scale in the Western Indian Ocean (WIO). Highly restricted gene flow was discovered between populations on either side of the Indian Ocean using the control region as a mitochondrial marker (mtDNA). We verify this conclusion us...
